Privacy Policy

Effective Date: August 15th, 2025

At The Love Within, your privacy and confidentiality are of the utmost importance. This policy outlines how your information is collected, used, and protected when you engage in therapy, coaching, workshops, or any services offered through this practice.

Confidentiality

All therapeutic services are confidential. Information you share in sessions will not be disclosed without your written consent, except in situations required by law (see Limits of Confidentiality below).

Limits of Confidentiality

Confidentiality may be broken under the following circumstances:

  • If you present an imminent danger to yourself or others

  • If there is suspicion of child abuse, elder abuse, or abuse of a vulnerable adult

  • If records are subpoenaed by a court of law

  • To comply with state or federal laws and ethical obligations

Telehealth Privacy

For Illinois residents using telehealth, sessions are conducted through secure, HIPAA-compliant platforms. Clients are encouraged to choose private locations during sessions to maintain confidentiality.

Digital Communication

  • Email, text, and other digital communications are not fully secure and should be used primarily for scheduling or administrative matters.

  • Social media boundaries: I do not accept friend or follow requests from clients to preserve confidentiality and professional boundaries.

Records & Documentation

Clinical records are maintained in a secure, HIPAA-compliant electronic system. These records are retained according to state licensing requirements. You may request access to your records in writing.

Payment & Financial Privacy

All payments are processed securely. Limited financial information may be collected and stored as required for billing. Services are self-pay only. A superbill can be provided for out-of-network reimbursement upon request.

Workshops, Coaching & Creative Offerings

If you engage with me outside of therapy (e.g., coaching, group workshops, or art-related events), please note that these services are not therapy and do not establish a therapeutic relationship. Different privacy and role boundaries apply depending on the service provided.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

  • Request access to your health records

  • Ask questions about confidentiality and privacy

  • Decline consent to share your information unless required by law

  • File a complaint if you believe your privacy rights have been violated
